Caring for Our Communities
At Almond Earth, our hearts are deeply committed to making a difference. We believe that true impact comes from reaching out to those in need, which is why we have thoughtfully chosen a handful of foundations that embody our values and principles. Every time you support Almond Earth, you’re not just making a purchase—you are uplifting lives and giving hope to those who need it most. To everyone who has generously chosen to donate privately, please know that your kindness echoes far and wide. Your contribution truly matters, and together, we are building a brighter, more compassionate world.
CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation
In 1977 Sister Sadie Cutland and her husband Julian’s firstborn, Hillary was diagnosed with aplastic anaemia at the age of seven.
Two years after Hillary’s diagnosis, Sadie was saddened that she hadn’t met another parent of a child with aplastic anaemia. Inspired by Professor MacDougal, she formed a parents’ support group in Johannesburg in 1979, encouraging others to share experiences and offer mutual support. This group became CHOC, which grew from personal stories and caring into South Africa’s leading childhood cancer organisation. Today, CHOC supports thousands of families, providing psychosocial care, accommodation in 13 homes, transportation with 21 vehicles, and comprehensive help during and beyond the childhood cancer journey.
Founded in 1973, the Endangered Wildlife Trust (EWT) has grown from three individuals working on three projects to over 100 staff running more than 100 conservation initiatives throughout southern and East Africa. As a registered non-profit, non-governmental, and public benefit organisation, EWT is dedicated to conserving threatened species and ecosystems for the benefit of wildlife and people. Our work centres on three strategic areas: Saving Species, Conserving Habitats, and Benefitting People. Our team collaborates with businesses, communities, and governments, leading efforts in conservation research, community engagement, livelihood support, and training, while reducing human-wildlife conflict and protecting safe spaces for animals and people.
Nestled in the Hennops mountains, Dogtown is a unique sanctuary for dogs that have lost their families or have been rescued from tough situations. The dedicated team provides individual care in a tranquil setting as these dogs wait for loving, permanent homes.
There’s a misconception that rescue dogs are broken, but many at Dogtown are simply looking for a second chance through no fault of their own. However, some dogs with greater needs receive specialised care in Robs Retreat, a rehabilitation area staffed by qualified trainers and behaviourists who work daily to improve their lives.
A retirement village is being developed for older dogs who need special medical care and often end up in shelters. Dogtown is committed to offering lifelong support to dogs in their care and ongoing assistance to adopters, with enrichment and training provided by certified professionals. Most of the dogs are happy and just waiting for someone like you to give them a home. With your help, Dogtown can continue to save more lives and provide the best possible care for abandoned and abused dogs.
The majority of the dogs in our care are happy go lucky dogs who just need YOU!
